Loraine’s Story

Loraine Peck was one of the lucky 7% of women diagnosed with ovarian cancer who could be cured with surgery alone. Once she had recovered, she was talking to her surgeon Professor Neville Hacker about how she could help and was honoured to be invited to join the board of the AGCF.

Coincidentally, the AGCF’s first research fellowship recipient, Dr Dane Cheasley is conducting ongoing research into Loraine’s specific type of ovarian cancer. Her tumor is now one of the specimens that he is using to help identity the gene mutation which causes low grade serous ovarian cancer with a view to develop a cure.
